DIVERSIFIED EXHIBITIONS ACQUIRES DESIGNEX
Melbourne, November 26 2009: Diversified Exhibitions Australia today announced it has acquired all the Australian assets of dmgworldmedia, which includes its involvement in flagship event designEX (including Form & Function).
Diversified Exhibitions is Australia’s major organiser of large-scale exhibitions. The company’s portfolio includes complementary events, DesignBuild and Hotel Hospitality & Design which are managed under the skill and guidance of Group Exhibition Director, Danielle Fischer. Before joining Diversified, Ms Fischer was the show director of designEX for four years at dmgworldmedia.
“We are extremely fortunate to have Danielle’s passion, knowledge and creative flair to assist in breathing new life and reinvigorate DesignEX. A key focus of hers will be to ensure the differentiation of designEX and DesignBuild,” said Matthew Pearce, Managing Director, Diversified Exhibitions.
designEX is Australia’s pre-eminent design show and a perfect balance to DesignBuild which focuses more on building and construction. Under Ms Fischer’s leadership, the brands will become more clearly defined and less competitive with each other, thus better servicing their exhibitor and visitor base.
This process is already well underway, with the repositioning of DesignBuild in 2009 to have a stronger bias to building and construction – a move that was welcomed by the industry and which has set the platform for future years. A similar brand shift will be undertaken for designEX to give the event a stronger design emphasis.
Pearce said that the transition would be smooth as both designEX and DesignBuild already run alternate years in Sydney and Melbourne.
designEX 2010 will take place 22-24 April at Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre. DesignBuild takes place 23-25 June 2010 at Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre and 3-5 November 2010 at Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.
